Sharpening takes place on prisms that are easily replaceable.
The distance between them varies widely. An accurate scale is provided for setting the angle and visual "zeroing" of the position of the lap against the stone. There is an LED backlight on a magnetic base, which is especially convenient when sharpening.
Reverse speed is also provided when working on the "left" and "right" parts of the working surface of the cup.
